Presented in a non-reflective, black, rubberized finish to keep out the spotlight, the sE Electronics sE4400a Factory-Matched Pair is a pair of large-diaphragm condenser microphones boasting four selectable polar patterns, handcrafted brass capsules, and onboard pad and filter settings. Paired with a highly adaptable shockmount, the sE4400a offers the sonic and physical flexibility to handle all kinds of sound sources and mic positions. Plus, it comes with a mounting bar for precise stereo configurations and a hard shell flight case to keep the whole setup safe during storage and transport.
The sE4400a's handmade vintage-style capsules yield not only a warm tone, but also the versatility of four polar patterns—cardioid, hypercardioid, figure-8, and omnidirectional—to enable anything from front-focused pickup to 360° capture. The -10 and -20 dB pads are perfect for preventing distortion when miking excessively loud instruments, and the low-cut filters (60 or 120 Hz) let you keep bass buildup under control. Since the sE4400a utilizes solid-state circuitry and a balanced XLR output, it should be connected to a mic preamp that can supply 48V phantom power.

Handcrafted Capsules
As with all sE mics, the sE4400a's back-to-back brass-ringed capsules are hand-built and hand-tuned by skilled sE technicians, just like any fine musical instrument.
Custom Shockmount and Chassis
The flat, round-edged chassis design and custom suspension mount allow the mic to be centered within the shock, flipped around and used flat against a drum head or guitar cab, or angled outwards and pushed inside of a kick drum. At less than 3/4" thick, it fits neatly in the palm of your hand, but is built to take a beating on the road.
Non-Reflective Paint
The mic has a special, black, non-reflective, non-marking, rubberized finish which is ideal for live stage, theatre, TV, and broadcast applications that require lighting.
Two Pads
The -10 and -20 dB pad switches provide extended dynamic range, enabling a wide variety of applications and close-mic techniques for even the loudest instruments.
Two Low-Cut Filters
Selectable at either 60 or 120 Hz, the two low-cut filters help eliminate low-frequency rumble or footfall noise as well as help compensate for excessive bass (proximity effect) with close-mic techniques.
Connects to XLR Mic Inputs
The sE4400A is equipped with a balanced XLR 3-pin output for connection to audio interfaces, outboard mic preamps, or mixer channels. 48V phantom power is required.
Factory-Matched Pair
When purchased as a pair, the capsules are factory-matched for perfect tolerance, guaranteeing the best possible stereo image. This configuration also includes a precision stereo mounting bar and two of the sE4400a's custom shockmounts. The whole setup comes packaged inside a secure flight case.
